Module Description
Most sites use a single marker style for each and every location marker on each and every map. Using the same plain marker, e.g. a blue map pin, for all content items, doesn't convey much of interest to the visitor. This module allows you to spruce up your Leaflet maps with a variety of markers that are eye-catching and say something relevant about the location they represent. Each location can have its own unique emoji or font icon marker. Please click the image to the right to see examples of both emoji's and font icons on the same map. You can stick to a single icon set or you can pick and mix to your heart's content from multiple sets.
To make things even more flexible you can specify the size of each icon for each location and the module will automatically calculate the correct offsets to align pixel coordinates with latitudes and longitudes on the map. And it does that for the info balloon popups too. So your icons and balloons always appear in the exact right spot, no matter the size of the icons or the zoom level the visitor is on.
And for a bit of fun, we've also added some animation effects that you can switch on for individual markers of your choice. Like a rocking motion, a jump or a somersault. Click the emoji images on the right for some live animation action.
All this works for markers on individual content pages as well as on maps in Views (via Leaflet Views, a sub-module part of Leaflet).
What kind of marker icons are supported?
All standard emojis. For your convenience an emoji finder/picker is provided. You can also use font icons from the Bootstrap Icons, Font Awesome and Line Awesome sets. No configuration required. The module detects when you've entered a font code belonging to these icon sets and will make sure to download it, only on the page(s) that require it.
Installation & configuration
This module requires the Leaflet and Token modules. Configuration is straightforward. The steps are outlined in the README that comes with the module.
